Official punished for beer, not vaccines, in hospital fridge

MEERUT: Beer cans, soda, and water bottles were found in a fridge designated for vaccines at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Dharpa, Bulandshahr, following which the vaccination officer was suspended for dereliction of duty.

The health department was alerted by a video that showed these items in a deep freezer meant for preserving vaccines for infants and children. Deputy chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Harendra Bansal led an investigation and CMO Dr Vinay Kumar Singh suspended vaccination officer Dr Hari Prasad and issued warnings to CHC in-charge Dr Praveen Kumar and two staff members.
