Meerut: The Meerut district women hospital is set to become an e-hospital very soon. While the leased line for the internet connectivity has been laid and four computers are purchased, once the technical glitches are solved and staff are trained, the hospital will be declared an e-hospital. The development comes over a month after PL Sharma district hospital got the e-hospital tag.

Meerut district women hospital chief medical superintendent Dr Manisha Verma said, “Once the e-hospital becomes functional, the patients will start getting printed registration slips from the out patient department (OPD). In the later phases, patients will also get online appointments and computerised fee receipts.”
The project was launched nearly a year ago when the district women hospital was shortlisted for the e-hospital project and a budget too was released for infrastructural development.
“The leased line for the internet connectivity has been laid and as many as four computers have been procured. The last minute glitches are being rectified and staff are yet to be trained. Once these things are accomplished, the e-hospital will start functioning,” said Dr Verma.
The process, once in place, will prevent making of fake medical certificates on previous dates and even facilitate advance appointments for days to come.
Hospital staff will initially be assisted by employees of Silver Touch, the company which is providing the software to the project. Once the hospital staff are trained, they will take over the entire network.
The selected hospitals across the state have been given email ids and passwords to begin with the registration process.
