Mother, minor son held for killing 17-year-old girl in Amroha

Bijnor: A 39-year-old woman, Najo Khatoon, and her teenage son were arrested for allegedly strangling her 17-year-old daughter in Bilana village under Naugawa Sadar police station in Amroha, police said on Thursday, adding that the accused cited fear of social shame as the motive.

Amroha SP Lakhan Singh Yadav said the woman had initially accused 20-year-old Mohd Zaid of killing her daughter on April 27. He added, “During investigation, Khatoon confessed and said Zaid had taken her daughter to his house on April 26, where he allegedly raped her. Because the family faced social pressure after the incident, Khatoon and her son killed the girl in the morning and tried to present it as murder.”

Meanwhile, Zaid has also been arrested after a separate case was registered against him under relevant sections of the BNS and Pocso Act.
