MUZAFFARNAGAR: Hundreds of residents on Saturday paid their last respects to slain Intelligence Bureau official
Ankit Sharma who was killed in the
Delhi riots. The urn with his ashes was brought to Shiv Chowk, the main crossing in city, before it was taken to Haridwar for immersion in the Ganga.
Ankit Sharma, a native of Itawa village of Muzaffarnagar, was cremated on Thursday with full state honours.
Condemning the killing of innocent people in the riots, city MLA from Muzaffarnagar Kapil Dev Agarwal, who is a state minister (independent charge), termed Ankit’s murder a “result of a conspiracy”.
Accusing
Aam Aadmi Party leader Tahir Hussain for the killing, Agarwal told reporters, “Petrol bombs, stones and illegal weapons were recovered from Hussain’s house, which is proof of a conspiracy to foment violence in Delhi.”
Ankit’s relatives and friends from Delhi, Union minister Sanjeev Balyan, the DM and the SSP of Muzaffarnagar were among the hundreds of people who bid him a final adieu.
Earlier on Friday, Ankkit’s father, Ravinder Sharma, had appealed to the AAP-led Delhi government to provide a government job to a member of his family and accord a “martyr” status to his son. He told TOI, “We have not received any relief from the government so far. The
Arvind Kejriwal government should give a government job to a member of my family now, and also martyr status to Ankit.”
