ALIGARH: A 14-year-old dalit girl was allegedly raped by two youths in Atrauli, Aligarh on Sunday. The perpetrators and a woman who lured the girl into their clutches have been arrested and booked under section 376 (rape), SC/ST Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
“Rajvati, 35, a neighbour of the survivor, called her to her house on the pretext of getting it cleaned and locked her up. Two youths, Shailesh Singh and Lokesh, both 18 years old, were already inside the house and they assaulted her,” said station officer of Atrauli Ashok Sharma.
The girl cried for help, which drew villagers to the house, after which they contacted the police. “Policemen rescued the girl and arrested all three accused,” said an official.
The Valmiki community, to which the survivor belonged, was outraged at the incident. Members of the community gathered and protested in front of the Atrauli police station.
Etah MP Rajveer Singh of BJP rushed to the village and demanded swift action against the culprits. Aligarh MP Satish Gautam, also of BJP, condemned the attack on the Dalit girl and said he would meet the family of the survivor shortly.
