The video of the assault was also uploaded online. On Thursday, police filed a case and arrested the five persons involved in the alleged attack.

According to the family of the accused, Mohammad Sajid tried to molest the woman on March 1 while she was returning from the field.

“The woman told her family members about the incident, and they approached village panchayat. The panchayat members asked both the families to settle the issue amicably. However, in the evening, when Sajid reached the woman’s house at the instance of her family members, he was allegedly beaten up, his head shaved and he was garlanded with shoes,” said

Later, the family of Sajid approached police and got a case registered.

A case was filed against the woman’s husband and his relatives under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
