MEERUT: A 24-year-old cab driver was allegedly stabbed to death in full public view over a monetary dispute in Khurja area of UP's Bulandshahr on Monday afternoon. Following the incident, the accused uploaded "confession videos" on social media in which he could be seen purportedly pleading for mercy. The videos - where he could also be heard talking about his surrender before the police - were widely circulated online on Tuesday.

Police said the accused, Nawab Khan (35), killed Mohd Sameer after stabbing him 8-10 times in the neck and stomach when the victim was standing near his house.

Sameer's brother Mohd Hanif said, "My brother used to drive a private taxi to support the family. A few days ago, he borrowed some money from Nawab which he had returned, but Nawab was asking for more money. Heated arguments ensued on several occasions. On Monday, Nawab came near our house and attacked Sameer. We took him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries."

The family claimed they had lodged a complaint with the police against Nawab a few days ago. "Sameer would've been alive today if the cops had taken action on time," Hanif added.

Bulandshahr SSP Shlok Kumar said that on the basis of the complaint, a case was registered against Nawab under IPC section 302 (murder). "Teams were formed, and raids are being carried out to nab him," he added.
