Man shoots wife, her ‘lover’ outside son’s exam centre in UP

A 34-year-old woman named Savitri was shot dead and her lover, Sarjeet Singh, critically injured after her estranged husband, Naresh Singh, opened fire outside an exam center. The couple's son had to file a complaint resulting in a murder charge and a police pursuit for Naresh.

MEERUT: A 34-year-old woman was shot dead and her "lover" suffered bullet injuries after her estranged husband fired indiscriminately at them while they were waiting outside the examination centre of her 16-year-old son. The incident took place in Bulandshahr on Monday morning.
Police affirmed that the woman, Savitri, and her "lover", Sarjeet Singh, had come to drop her son, 16, for his Class 10 board exam at an inter-college when her husband and his brother, who were lying in wait, opened fire.
Confused and terrified, bystanders started running for cover. The attackers fled on their mobike. SHO Dharmendra Singh said, "The victims were rushed to district hospital. A bullet had hit Savitri on the head and she died during treatment. Sarjeet was later shifted to another medical facility and was said to be critical."
SP (city) Shankar Prasad Singh said, "An FIR was registered against the woman's husband, Naresh Singh, 40, under BNS section 103 (murder) following a complaint by the couple's son. Naresh is on the run, and a special team has been formed to track him down."
Naresh, a resident of Ganghari village near Aurangabad police station, had married Savitri about 17 years ago. The couple had two children -- son Akshanshu (16) and daughter Khushi. About a year ago, Savitri left her husband's house and started living with Noida-based Sarjeet Singh, who is originally from her in-laws' village.
