MUZAFFARNAGAR: A woman has alleged that her husband gave triple talaq to her and then eloped with her sister after her parents failed to fulfill dowry demand. The incident took place on Thursday in
Pathanpura Colony of Deoband
in Sahranpur district but came to light on Sunday after 27-year-old
Noorjahan Begum approached police to intervene in the matter. Noorjahan claimed that she got married to her neighbour

three years ago and that they have
girl child.
Noorjahan claimed before police that her husband used to often demand dowry and each time her father would fulfill his demand. On December 7, he beat me up brutally and tried to burn me alive but luckily our neighbours saved me. My husband then gave triple talaq to me and eloped with my sister after taking away all my jewellery."
Noorjahan also alleged that though she approached the Deoband police to register a case, the cops turned her away.

said, "If the woman has made a complaint, a case will be registered and action will be taken against the accused after investigating the matter."
