Man, 55, held in police encounter for raping, killing a 10-year-old girl

MEERUT: A 55-year-old history-sheeter was arrested in a police encounter in Bulandhshr for allegedly raping and killing a 10-year-old after abducting her.

According to the police, the girl went missing on December 6 following which a missing report was filed her father on the next day. On December 11, police recovered her body from a sugarcane farm in the village.


They said she was abducted by the man when she went to purchase groceries from a nearby shop. In the CCTV footage, the man was seen following the girl. He took the girl to a secluded sugarcane field and raped her before strangling her to death, they added.

"He was arrested on Wednesday night from Bulandshahr's Khanpur area following a gun fight with the police. He is a history sheeter and has been to jail earlier in connection with similar crimes. He sustained a gunshot wound in leg during retaliatory firing," said Bulandshahr Additional SP Shanker Prasad.
