Main accused in murder of Delhi head constable held in Meerut

MEERUT: Notorious criminal Aalim alias Lala, wanted for murdering a Delhi head constable last month in Meerut’s Kharkhauda town, was arrested in Kithore area on Friday morning.
Acting on a tip-off Aalim would come to Kithore, a team of police was deployed in the area. On seeing the police, Aalim tried to escape and hid himself at a marriage hall.
“When police followed Aalim, he opened fire.Finding himself surrounded by cops, the criminal surrendered. We have arrested him and are questioning him,” superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar said.
SP Kumar said investigators are probing the motive behind the murder of the Delhi head constable.
On October 15, Delhi head constable Sarabjeet Singh was shot dead by three unknown assailants when he had gone to Meerut to attend a function. The bike-borne assailants attacked him when he, along with his wife Sangeeta Kaur and their six-year-old daughter Sukhmani, was on their way back in their car after attending the function held at a gurdwara in Kawrata village.
The assailants fired indiscriminately on the car and one of the bullets hit Singh’s neck. Luckily, while his wife and their daughter escaped unhurt
