Labourer dies as wall collapses in Bijnor
BIJNOR: Two labourers were buried under rubble after the wall of an under-construction building collapsed on them on Friday morning. One of them died at the spot. The incident took place in Hakimanaan colony of Bijnor’s Sherkot city.
According to police, the incident took at Hakimanaan mohalla of Sherkot city. The two labourers, Yashpal Singh, 32, and Khub Singh, residents of Vahidpur village, were engaged in construction work here when the wall collapsed on them, burying them under the debris.
Panic spread among local residents after the incident.

After informing cops, they started removing the rubble themselves. Getting the information, police and administrative officials rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. After a two-hour long effort, local residents and police managed to rescue Khub Singh, while Yashpal Singh died on the spot. Khub Singh was admitted to a Sherkot-based hospital. His condition is stated to be out of danger.
Talking to TOI, Sherkot station house officer, Pankaj Tomar, said, “The two labouers were from Vahidpur village and doing construction work here at Sherkot, when the incident occurred. Yashpal Singh died on the spot, while Khub Singh sustained injuries. He is recuperating at Sherkot hospital. The body of the deceased was sent to a district hospital for autopsy. A probe is on.”
