UP: Infant, mother die as house catches fire in Adarsh colony

An eight-month-old infant and her mother (32) died of burns while four of their family members are battling for their lives after they were trapped in a fire that broke out in their house on Monday night. It took hours for the fire brigade to rescue them.

BIJNOR: An eight-month-old infant and her mother (32) died of burns while four of their family members are battling for their lives after they were trapped in a fire that broke out in their house on Monday night.
It took hours for the fire brigade to rescue them. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The fire broke out in a residential house in Adarsh colony of Najibabad town when family members of Ashish Agarwal were inside.

Dharamveer Singh, Bijnor superintendent of police, said, “Six persons -- Ashish Agarwal, his wife Mitali, daughter Wachi, mother Sudha and two others sustained burns when a fire suddenly broke out, engulfing the entire building.
On being informed, fire tenders were rushed to the scene and a rescue operation was launched. All injured were rescued after hours of operation. The injured were admitted in a private hospital, where Ashish Agarwal's daughter Wachi and wife Mitali succumbed to injuries. The rest of the injured were referred to a higher centre for treatment." Police are trying to ascertain the cause of the fire. A probe is on.
