MEERUT: A 40-year-old man was shot to death allegedly by three masked men on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday in Meerut’s Bhawanpur village.
Bablu Singh, 40, allegedly had illicit relations with Shweta, wife of his cousin, Sundar. Shweta was found dead under mysterious circumstances in 2013. Ever since then, Sundar has had cold relations with Bablu.
Singh was shot to death while he was walking back to the village with two other villagers after having returned from Muzaffarnagar.
Ashutosh Kumar, station house officer of Bhawanur police station, said, “The incident took place at 2:30am on Sunday when Bablu was walking to his village after having returned from Muzaffarnagar. Bablu Singh ran a business which provided horses for weddings and was returning with two others from a wedding in Muzaffarnagar. When Bablu went to attend nature’s call in a nearby farm, three masked men shot him to death.”
Two others who were accompanying Bablu then raised an alarm and gathered villagers. Bablu was then rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
“An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against Bablu’s cousins Sundar, Pappu, and one unknown person in the matter by Bablu’s father Bhawar Singh,” said Kumar.
