Illegal sand mining: 15 trucks full of gravel seized

BIJNOR: A joint team of police and district administration seized fifteen trucks full of

gravel

on Thursday. The driver of the trucks failed to produce documents related to carry gravel legally and hence the trucks were taken into custody by the police. An inquiry has been ordered in the matter.

Giving details, mining officer Ranjana Singh said, “We have launched a joint operation here in the district as several trucks loaded with gravel and sand pass through Bijnor. They carry mining material from Uttarakhand and Haryana.”

“We checked over 20 trucks loaded with gravel and sand. Out of these, 15 trucks were carrying mining material illegally. Some of them had incomplete documents while others failed to produce papers pertaining to mining material. We have given all trucks in police custody and probe is on.” Singh claimed.

She further claimed, “The mining material was being carried from Haryana and not from Bijnor. We will slap stipulated fine on the truck owners. The fine is being assessed here.”

The checking team comprising SDM Brijesh Singh and circle officer Mahesh Kumar will continue with their inspection in the coming days.
