Head constable injured in attack by mentally unstable man in Amroha
Amroha: A head constable was seriously injured after being attacked with a sharp-edged weapon by a man suspected to be mentally unstable during a foot patrol in the Chevda locality on Monday night.The incident occurred around 11 pm when police personnel were patrolling the area to maintain law and order ahead of Holi. Police said the man was creating a disturbance and grew aggressive despite attempts by local residents to calm him.Head constable Rahul Kumar reached the spot and tried to restrain the accused, who allegedly attacked him with a gandasa (a sharp agricultural weapon), leaving him bleeding on the road.The attacker was overpowered by police and locals and taken into custody. The injured constable was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors said his condition is stable and he is out of danger.SSP Amit Kumar Anand said the accused appears to be mentally unstable and has been unable to clearly state his name and address. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
