MUZAFFARNAGAR: Two people, including a former village chief, were arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly kidnapping a woman and raping her.
The rape survivor, a resident of
Shamli
district, was rescued from the former village chief’s house where she was held captive for the past three days.
Narrating her ordeal, the rape survivor claimed that she was raped in captivity and efforts were being made to sell her. She somehow managed to contact police by dialing 100. The police later rescued her from the residence of the former village chief in
Kasauli
village in
Charthawal
in Muzaffarnagar.
The accused has been identified as
Rajbeer Singh, the former village chief, and his aide Vipin
Kumar
.
Charthawal police station incharge, GC Sharma, said, “Both accused were arrested on Tuesday night while the woman has been sent to her home safely.”
The rape survivor alleged that she was kidnaped from Muzaffarnagar when was waiting for a bus to home in Shamli district. Kumar had lured her on the pretext of getting her a job, she said. Singh allegedly wanted to buy the victim from Kumar in Rs 20,000, sources said.
A case was filed against Singh and Kumar under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the IPC.
