FIR against two for Facebook post against Ajit Singh, family
MEERUT: Muzaffarnagar police has filed a case against two persons for posting ‘objectionable’ remarks against Rashtriya Lok Dal supremo Ajit Singh and his family members. After much hue and cry over the issue, Nai Mandi police station of the district registered the case.
Rojant Tyagi, SHO of Nai Mandi police station told TOI, “The case has been registered against one Yashpal Hewa, a resident of Delhi but who originally belongs to Hewa village in Baghpat while the second one is Nitin Pawar, under IPC 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language) and 63 of IT Act. The case has been taken over by crime branch. Investigations will begin from Sunday.”
Talking to TOI over phone, national general secretary of RLD, Jayant Chaudhary, said, "I have only heard about the posts and the fact of the matter is that with technology people tend to feel that they are free to say anything, but there are limits to it and care should be taken that one should not feel offended. Some party people took it very seriously and their anger is also justified, but I am not of the opinion to drag somebody to court. We'll sort out the matter soon."
With the approaching assembly elections in UP, mudslinging against leaders is gradually increasing. Of late, former UP vice-president of BJP, Dayashankar Singh also made a sexist slur against BSP supremo Mayawati following which his family too filed a case against Mayawati for “initiating” a tirade against them.
A series of comments included the hurling of sleazy accusations at the RLD chief and his son, who was also abused for non-payment of BSNL bills for his landline.
One of the comments also touched upon Muzaffarnagar riots and accused Ajit Singh of “spitting on the bodies of Jats murdered in Muzaffarnagar riots”. The post was uploaded on Monday but got highlighted only when Muzaffarnagar-based party workers got to know of its late on Friday evening.
Sudhir Bhartiya, state general secretary for youth affairs, RLD, told TOI, “Chaudhary Ajit Singh and his family are respectable political family whose legacy goes back to the former prime minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh. By uploading such derogatory remarks against them, not only these anti social elements are ruining the reputations but also fomenting hatred.”
As soon as the news of such post spread, a large number of RLD workers staged dharna at the collectorate and demanded an FIR against the culprits.
