MUZAFFARNAGAR: A 40-year-old farmer, who reportedly used to seek information on various issues from several government departments under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, was shot at by unidentified men in Dhindhwali village under Titavi police station of
Muzaffarnagar
district late on Tuesday evening, said police.
Krishanpal was working in the field when six unidentified men opened fire at him and a bullet struck him on his back, said police, adding the victim was rushed to hospital in serious condition, where doctors referred him to higher medical centre in
Meerut
.
Station house officer of Titavi police station Kshitij Kumar said, “Prima facie it appears that the incident was planted as Krishanpal has some cases registered against him and he was released from the jail recently. He used to seek information from various departments under RTI.”
“A case against six accused has been registered after a complaint filed by the victim’s family and investigation is on, SHO added.
