Meerut: An inspection conducted by commissioner and director handloom and textiles, Kanpur, Rama Raman at the district
“While no problems relating to cleanliness of the hospital or medicines being purchased from outside were found, the issue of staff crunch came to the fore. We have only four gynecologists against the 16 vacancies in the hospital. We have already informed the state government authorities about the matter and since it came up in the inspection as well, it will be highlighted in the inspection report, too,” said Dr Manisha Verma, chief medical superintendent, district women hospital.
An inspection report was sought in this matter from the CMS of the hospital with immediate effect and hospital authorities were asked to ensure that action is taken in the irregularities found.
“Apart from shortage of gynecologists, the toilets for the disabled were found closed. Instructions were given to keep them open at all times. Also, instructions have been given to install air conditioners in the lobby of the out-patient department,” said Dr Verma. Orders were also given to install a television set in the waiting area.
The report was prepared on Thursday and sent across to the state government authorities, so that action can be taken in the irregularities found.
“The inspection mainly aimed at pointing out the problems at the hospital, so that they can be resolved at the state level,” said Dr Verma.
