Bulandshahr gangrape: #LawlessUP trends on Twitter, people question Akhilesh govt

MEERUT: Following the Bulandshahr gang rape wherein a 35-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were raped by a gang of robbers on Friday night, #LawlessUP has became one of the topmost trends on Twitter on Monday. While, #Bulandshahr was among the top 10 trends on Twitter on Sunday, Twitteratis used #LawlessUP to express their anger against the horrific crime that shocked the nation.

Twitteratis were seen posting remarks over UP CM Akhilesh Yadav for the “lawlessness” in the state and for promoting ‘Gundaraaj’.

“UP has become Hastinapur of the Mahabharata. The blind Dhrtrastra can't see anything except his power-hungry sons and relatives. #LawlessUP” (sic.), tweeted a person from his Twitter handle @AskRaushan. Another tweet from Twitter handle @ukshahi read, “#LawlessUP When criminals are patronized by the system nd d govt, only Gundaraj nd lawlessness will be there.” (sic).

Though UP government was quick in suspending the cops handling the Bulandshahr gangrape case and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav fixed a 24 hour deadline to arrest all the accused, not much was done even after the deadline has expired. Only three arrests were made out of the eight people against whom an FIR was filed by the family of the victims.

Another tweet from @iSharmaPuneet read, “This is what Samajwadi @yadavakhilesh has done to Uttar Pardesh by ruling UP as a Talibani Administrator. #LawlessUP” (sic).

Meanwhile, memes of SP also circulated on social media. One of them shows Akhilesh Yadav not paying heed to a burning woman crying for help as he is busy distributing laptops and saying “Don’t disturb us. Can’t you see we are busy making a high-tech state?”
