MEERUT
: Scores of anganwadi workers, who have been protesting across the state for a week for revision of their wages from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 locked the gates of
Shamli
district magistrate’s office on Thursday. Their aggression got doubled up after they learnt that government announced to increase their wages by only Rs 800.
The agitating workers said the government’s decision to revise their wages by Rs 800 was nothing but a bad joke.
“Our utmost demand is that government should implement the recommendations of 45th and 46th Indian Labour Convocation. Besides, we must be given the status of government employee as we work in the same capacity without any break. We must be entitled to avail the benefits of pension, gratuity and provident fund including
ESI
facility,” anganwadi workers added.
Later
district
magistrate,
Sujeet Kumar
pacified the workers as he assured them that the government would be informed about their woes. He also asked the workers to protest in a democratic way without disturbing any government official and other staff.
On his assurance, the anganwadi workers opened the gate. They said that they would continue with their agitation until the government fulfils all their demands.Check out the
