Bijnor: In yet another instance of death due to illegal electric fence on farmland, an 18-year-old girl was electrocuted to death in Rawali village of Bijnor district, police said on Sunday.
According to Payal Kumari's family, she went to sleep on Saturday night but later went missing in mysterious circumstances. Her body was found in the field the next morning, prompting suspicions of foul play.
Senior police officers, including circle officer (city) Sangram Singh and Mandawar station house officer Sumit Rathi, inspected the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
While the family feared murder, preliminary investigators noted that Kumari's hand was in contact with an electric fence and no external injury marks were visible on her body.
Singh said, "Primary investigation revealed accidental electrocution as the cause of death. We are waiting for the autopsy report and action will be taken accordingly."
