Workshop on bio-fuels
The taskforce on bio-fuels will soon organize a workshop here with a view to communicate to the entrepreneurs of various industries about the value added business opportunities and better utilization of local resources.
The workshop will also establish linkages between manufacturers and technological companies to manufacture value added products across all various sectors.
1x1 polls
The workshop is tentatively planned to be held in the first week of December.
Task force chairman Y B Ramakrishna said sectors like fish oil, cashew and others where bio-fuel can be produced will benefit from this exercise.
He said if fish oil companies can have the technology to extract Omega 3 fatty acids from fish oil, the rest of the waste can be used as bio fuel. Currently, fish oil is being sold at Rs 28 per kg and importers extract Omega 3 fatty acids and sell it at Euro 250-300 per litre.
Ramakrishna also noted that annually 40,000 tonnes of cashew apple was being wasted and this was a good source of at least 16,000 tonnes of ethanol.
