UDUPI: A woman claimed that she lost Rs 1.94 lakh in an online job scam. Archana, 25, claimed that when she was searching online for part-time jobs, she clicked on a link on Instagram related to part-time work.
Following this, she received messages on WhatsApp about a part-time job, claiming that tasks on ‘Amazon Freshers Job in India’ could yield high profits if she invested money.
Persuaded by this, the victim was directed to transfer funds to various UPI IDs provided by unknown persons. Believing this, she gradually transferred a total of Rs 1.94 lakh to different UPI IDs between Oct 18 and Oct 24.
However, she did not receive either the invested amount or the promised profit, resulting in financial loss due to the alleged fraud. Based on her complaint, a case has been registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station."
