Mangaluru: The CCB team of the Mangaluru City Police arrested two more accused from Maharashtra in connection with the visa scam involving Hireglow Elegant Overseas International (Opc) Private Limited, which cheated nearly 289 overseas job aspirants. Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that the arrested individuals are Dil Shaad Abdul Sathar Khan, 45, a resident of Navi Mumbai, and Sahukari Kishore Kumar alias Anil Patel, 34, from Dombivli, Thane.
Earlier, the CCB team arrested an accused, Masiulla Atiulla Khan, 36, from Mumbai in connection with the overseas job recruitment scam reported at the Mangaluru East Police Station in May. The accused opened an office of Hireglow Elegant Overseas International (Opc) Private Limited at Bendoorwell in the city, offering overseas jobs. They collected nearly Rs 4.5 crore from about 289 people and allegedly cheated them by not providing overseas job visas. Mangaluru East Police registered a case under Sections 316(2), 318(4), read with 3(5) of the BNS, the Commissioner said.
Khan and Patel were produced before the court and were handed over to police custody for further investigation. Meanwhile, Masiulla Atiulla Khan is in judicial custody, he added.
It may be recalled that Lawrence D'Souza, President of the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Labourers' Cell, called for a comprehensive investigation into a fraud case where individuals seeking overseas employment from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and various regions of South India collectively lost over Rs 8 crore. He alleged that numerous job seekers paid amounts ranging from Rs 1.85 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for promised employment opportunities in New Zealand, Azerbaijan, Singapore, and other nations.
Meanwhile, Avaneesh Shukla, Protector of Emigrants (POE) for Karnataka and Goa, under the Ministry of External Affairs, visited Mangaluru after receiving credible information regarding unauthorised interviews being conducted for overseas job placements. The City Police Commissioner also suspended two officers with immediate effect pending inquiry for failing to take appropriate legal action against the hiring firm.
