MANGALORE: A double treat awaits music lovers at the 60th birthday celebration of eminent saxophone artiste Kadri Gopalnath at Ravindra Kalabhavan, University College here on December 7. Kadri Academy, Mallikatte has organized violin recital by A Kanyakumari and a flute recital by maestro Praveen Godkhindi. The academy, managed by Ambika Mohan, daughter of Kadri Gopalnath is training scores of students in music.
A Kanyakumari, a leading and experienced violin player has been accompanying Kadri Gopalnath on his concerts for the last two decades and more.

Godkhindi by the sheer range of his talent has captivated the minds of music lovers across the country. His jugalbandi with Kadri Gopalnath is a treat that music lovers have lapped up with all eagerness. Ananthakrishna, chairman of Karnataka Bank will felicitate the artistes.
Trichy B Hari Kumar, Rajendra Nakod, and B Rajashekar will accompany these two artistes on mrudangam, tabla, or morsing respectively. Entry to the programme is free.

Mani Krishnaswami Academy and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan have organized a special lecture on 'History of Carnatic Music' by V Arvind Hebbar at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Pandeshwar here on December 6 at 10.30 am. Likewise, the two organizations have also arranged for a workshop on compositions of composers from Karnataka. Eminent musician M S Sheela, Bangalore will conduct the workshop on December 27, and 28 from 9.30 am to 5 pm respectively at Ravindra Kala Bhavan.
