While the career opportunities in the IT sector have come down drastically, educational institutes have started offering attractive pay scales to teachers. A lecturer working on contract basis can get atlaest Rs 12-15 thousand initially for the post of lecturer. Besides, the government too has started filling up vacancies in government and aided colleges. This helps teachers working on a contract basis to get regularized, Shetty said.
