Thenka in Udupi district records highest rainfall of 54mm

MANGALURU: Thenka in Udupi taluk of Udupi district recorded maximum rainfall of 54mm in the last 24 hours up to 8.30am on July 28. Hachcholli hobli in Siruguppa taluk of Ballari district recorded maximum temperature of 36.8°C at 1pm on July 27. Madikeri hobli in Madikeri taluk of Kodagu district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 17.7°C from 6.15am to 6.30am on July 28, G S Srinivasa Reddy, director, KSNDMC said.
More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 52% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as isolated since 22% of hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall equal to 2.5mm. Rather heavy rain was recorded in 32 gram panchayats; moderate rain in 424 gram panchayats; light rain in 348 gram panchayats; very light rain in 974 gram panchayats; and no rainfall in remaining 3,367 GPs across the state.
Karnataka for the period from July 22 to July 28 recorded deficit rainfall of 57%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 64mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 28mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on July 28, four geographical regions received 3mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 9mm, a 69% deficit departure from weighted-average normal.
