MANGALORE: The Judicial Magistrate First Class third court judge sent terror suspect Shabeer Bhatkal alias Shabeer Moulvi to one-day judicial custody here on Sunday.
Ullal police brought Shabeer from Yerawada jail in Pune to the city late on Saturday in connection with the ongoing investigations into the activities of terrorist organizations in the city.

Shabeer is accused of being involved in various terror-related activities in India.
SI H Shivaprakash f the Ullal police-station said the judge sent the accused to one-day judicial custody. "We will move an application before the court on Monday and seek his police custody to facilitate his interrogation," Shivaprakash added.
The local police, who had gone to Pune with a body warrant for Shabeer, took him into their custody and returned to the city. Maharashtra ATS had nabbed Shabeer recently.
Local police following a trail of terror links had nabbed six persons at Mukkacherri near Ullal and in Pandeshwar area of the city in October 2008. They subsequently arrested two more accused in Koppa in Chikmagalur. However, kingpins of the Indian Mujahideen network including Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal and Shabeer had given police the slip on that occasion. Police are expected to seek Shabeer's custody for 15 days.
