Team Mangalore invited to Thailand

Team Mangalore, the city-based hobby group of kite flyers have been officially invited by Tourism Authority of Thailand to represent India at the two-day '11th Thailand International Kite Festival' at Rama VI Camp, Cha-Am, Petchburi, Thailand, to be held from March 13.

MANGALORE: Team Mangalore, the city-based hobby group of kite flyers have been officially invited by Tourism Authority of Thailand to represent India at the two-day '11th Thailand International Kite Festival' at Rama VI Camp, Cha-Am, Petchburi, Thailand, to be held from March 13.
The team, the only team representing India in this International Kite Festival with its versatile kite collection, is on a mission to spread culture through kites.

B Sarvesha Rao, coordinator of Team Mangalore, said the two-day festival will have more than 20 teams from across the globe. The four-member team consists of Rao, Nitin J Shetty, Prashanth Kumar and Vasant Kumar Sanil. The team will fly their special kites such as Yakshagana, Kathakalli, Gajaraja, Charlie Chaplin, Owl, Bharathnatyam, etc., along with their other wide variety of kites, showcasing the cultural diversity of India in general and coastal Karnataka in specific.
The team had earlier been to France, England and Canada, winning the Best International Kite award for its fabulous kite collections. The Kathakali kite of Team Mangalore has found its place as the 'Largest Kite' in India in the Limca Book of Records.
