MANIPAL: The TA Pai
Management Institute (TAPMI
) will introduce 16 more elective subjects for postgraduate diploma in management (PGDM
) students from this academic year. At present, TAPMI
is offering about 50 electives. Students can choose from any of these elective subjects in the second year of PGDM
. Chowdari Prasad, chairman (admissions), TAPMI, said the new elective subjects have been introduced after studying market demands.
"Students will benefit from the move as it will make them employable in various industries. As far as curriculum is concerned we benchmark TAPMI against the best B-schools in India and abroad. Many MBA graduates in the country end up without any jobs as they are not trained according to the needs of changing market trends. At TAPMI apart from compulsory subjects, students have to study one of the elective subjects offered," he added.
The syllabus of the new elective subjects has been framed by a curriculum committee comprising faculty members of TAPMI. The electives are financial statement analysis, money, banking and monetary police,
international trade and business environment, blue ocean strategy, cross cultural management, learning and development, qualitative research, retail management, internet marketing, design of marketing, rural marketing, game theory and applications, advanced inventory and lean management, modeling with spreadsheets, management of tech and innovation, and IT strategy and management.
