MANGALURU: Chief minister Siddaramaiah said that the steel bridge project, planned by the government, is most transparent.
The allegations BJP leaders are bringing are baseless, frivolous and politically motivated, the CM said.
Union minister Sadananda Gowda had alleged that the government was “swindling money in the name of solving traffic problems". He had also questioned the government over lack of transparency in the implementation of the project, which has been stayed by the National Green Tribunal for four weeks.
Refuting Gowda’s allegations, Siddaramaiah said, "Making false allegation is their profession and they are trying to portray a lie as truth by repeating it 100 times.

This project has been commenced during their (BJP) tenure in 2010. The detailed project report (DPR) was also prepared by them. I have announced it in the 2014-15 Budget. Later, we held discussions and the details were uploaded on the website seeking public suggestions. We have received positive response from 73 per cent people. The project has been planned only after public consultations and it is most transparent project,” Siddaramaiah said.
He said that work of the project has been entrusted with a reputed company - L&T, the lowest bidder. “All process has been completed in a transparent manner by inviting global tender. Where is the scope for swindling money? Sadananda Gowda is confusing people. They are opposing the project, which was initiated by them in 2010, only to create difficulties for the Congress government,” Siddaramaiah said.
