Sri Adichunchanagiri Maha Samsthana Mutt to celebrate silver jubilee in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru branch of Sri Adichunchanagiri Maha Samsthana Mutt is organising various religious, Vedic, and cultural programmes on Nov 26 and Jan 1 and 2 at its premises. This is part of the silver jubilee of the branch and the golden jubilee of the coronation of Jagadguru Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, according to Sri Dharmapalanatha Swamiji. He told reporters on Monday that in 1996, five acres were acquired in Thodlagudda, Kavoor, to establish an educational institution by the Sri Adichunchanagiri Maha Samsthana. In 1999, the then Peethadhipathi, Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, established an educational institution and a branch mutt, which is now celebrating its silver jubilee. The BGS Education Centre (CBSE) school is entering its 25th year, he said, adding that a committee has been formed to organise the silver jubilee celebrations. As 50 years have passed since Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji ascended the 71st Peethadhipathi of the Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri Nath tradition in 1974, a golden jubilee celebration will be held, along with a Guru Vandana and Silver Tulabhara programme for the current Peethadhipathi, Sri Dr Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji. Mangaluru City North MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty, who is the president of the silver jubilee committee, said the ‘BGS Karavali Ratna Awards' ceremony will be held on Nov 26 at 10:30am at BGS Auditorium in Kavoor to honour achievers from various fields in Dakshina Kannada district. Shree Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyoor Sri Gurudevadatta Samsthanam will bless the event, while Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MLC Manjunath Bhandary, and other guests will be present. Silver jubilee reception committee president PS Prakash stated that as part of the Silver Jubilee, 25 unsung achievers from 19 fields are being recognised and honoured. The inauguration of a PU college building constructed at a cost of Rs 18 crore and the foundation laying for BGS Suvarna Bhavan will take place.
