Sindhanur likely to be named education district
RAICHUR: Sindhanur, located 90 km from the district headquarters, is likely to become a separate education district. The taluk has 316 govt schools, 31 aided schools, 155 unaided schools, 12 social welfare department schools, 9 govt PU colleges, two aided PU colleges, 31 unaided PU colleges, a govt degree college, over 13 private degree colleges, postgraduate colleges, nursing colleges, BED colleges, DED colleges, and the Akkamahadevi Women's Postgraduate Center, with a large number of students.
MLA Hampanagouda Badarli, who has been elected for the fifth time, has written a letter to the govt requesting separate education district status for Sindhanur. In response, the department of school education has written to the additional commissioner of Kalaburagi and DDPI (administration) of Raichur on April 4. Based on the letter, the department has instructed the additional commissioner to submit a clear proposal containing information on the workload regarding declaration of Sindhanur as an education district.
Hampanagouda said that despite most schools and colleges being located in Sindhanur, one has to travel 90 km to Raichur for education-related work. Making Sindhanur an educational district would be more convenient and also benefit Maski and Lingasugur taluks.
Following the instructions of the additional commissioner, district-level officials have submitted a comprehensive report along with details of educational institutions in Sindhanur. It has been reported that the necessary space and rooms are available for setting up the office of the additional deputy director in the buildings of the minority welfare department near the Junior College, in PWD Camp, near the Teachers Training Institute, and on Olaballari Road.
RC Patil, ex-syndicate member of Akkamahadevi Women's University, expressed confidence that necessary work will be initiated after the end of the model code of conduct. Sindhanur BEO Somasekhargouda said senior officers requested a report on setting up the office of an additional deputy director in Sindhanur, and relevant information was submitted.
