MANGALURU: A trivial issue snowballed into an incident of stabbing near
Kinnipadav in Bajpe
on Thursday at around 7.15 pm. Police have identified the injured persons as
Sarfraz and Ilyas
.
According to a police officer privy to the developments, the attackers - Toufeeq and Rasheed - were travelling from Kinnipadav to Vamanjoor in a car. As they covered some distance, a two-wheeler rider named Javed came on their way. This irked the duo, who got down from the car and picked up a fight with Javed. The incident took place around 8 km away from the Mangaluru International Airport.
As Javed is a local, the people nearby came in support of him. In the melee, two locals, Ilyas and Sarfraz sustained stab injuries. There were rushed to a private hospital. Javed escaped unhurt.
Meanwhile, another source stated that Toufeeq was an Ola driver and the injured Sarfraz, a taxi driver, at the Mangaluru International Airport. The source said Toufeeq attacked Sarfraz in furtherance of the tension that prevailed at the airport on Wednesday.
Around 3.30pm on Wednesday, a fight erupted between the airport taxi drivers and drivers of Cab aggregator Ola. Four people were injured.
