MANGALORE: The Bangalore Crime Branch police took custody of Rashid Malbari, aide of notorious underworld don Chota Shakeel, lodged in Mangalore jail and took him to Bangalore at 12.15 pm on Friday.
Though the Bangalore police had arrived on Thursday with a warrant to take custody of Malbari refused to go saying he was unwell as also the police were in civil dress.
The police sought his custody pertaining to a robbery case filed in Shivajinagar police station in Bangalore. The court hearing at Bangalore is on Saturday. Rashid's wife had also arrived here on Wednesday from Mumbai.
Rashid Malbari nabbed in a joint operation of the local police with help from state and police intelligence in 2009 has a crime history which dates back to 1996 when he carried out his first murder. He is also involved in the 1998 shoot out case in limits of K G Halli police station limits in Bangalore. Rashid has travelled extensively to the Gulf, South East Asian countries and China under fake documents.
