Poojary slams Congress ‘power-sharing’, says governance in Karnataka has stalled

Mangaluru: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary on Monday alleged that Congress’s internal power-sharing has brought governance in Karnataka to a standstill and said BJP workers must highlight the state govt’s failures before the people.

Speaking after inaugurating a two-day district-level training camp (Prashikshana Varga) organised by the BJP’s Dakshina Kannada unit under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Prashikshan Mahabhiyan 2026 at Sanghaniketan, Poojary said people are increasingly disappointed with the Congress-led govt.

He alleged that while Congress frequently speaks about the welfare of backward classes and Dalits, nearly 1.5 lakh students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and backward communities are struggling due to lack of hostel facilities, forcing some to drop out of school.

Poojary further alleged that the govt diverted Rs 60,000 crore earmarked for the health and education of SC and ST communities for other purposes. He also claimed that although the Union govt had sanctioned Rs 22,000 crore for coastal fisheries and development projects, the state govt turned these schemes into a means of generating revenue and falsely projected central funds as its own, misleading the public.

“BJP workers must take these facts to the people,” he said.

The MP said that while India has over 23,000 registered political parties, BJP is the only party that systematically conducts training programmes for its workers.

Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said India has undergone significant transformation since 2014 and that BJP has emerged as the answer to people’s aspirations and problems. He expressed confidence that the party would return to power in Karnataka in 2028 and help build a ‘Viksit Karnataka’ in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Dakshina Kannada BJP president Satish Kumpala, MLAs Rajesh Naik, Y Bharath Shetty, Bhagirathi Murulya, Yashpal Suvarna, and MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur were present.

‘Not the Time to Fear Cockroaches’

In a sharp remark, Poojary said attempts were being made to portray the BJP as a “cockroach party.” “This is not the time to be afraid of cockroaches,” he said.
