Parents killed in road mishap, kids survive

MANGALURU: In a tragic accident, a couple was killed in a road mishap near Kaikamba at Padigara in Perdur village of Udupi district on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Manohara Bhaktha, 42, a resident of Someshwar in Karkala taluk, his mother Manorama Bhaktha, 62, and wife Swathi, 32. Meanwhile, Manohara's children, Manasa, 8, and Sanjana, 6, have escaped with major injuries.
Manohara was travelling to Someshwar with his family when a truck, which was going towards Udupi, hit Manohar's car at Kaikamba.
While the three died due to severe injuries, Manasa and Sanjana have been admitted to Manipal Hospital.
Hiriyadka police have registered a case against the tempo driver Santhosh under sections 279, 338 and 394(a) of IPC for negligent and rash driving causing death, based on a complaint filed by Raghavendra Bhaktha, a resident of Someshwar.
The family was returning home after visiting Sri Venkataramana Temple in Mulki. Manohara used to run a hotel in Someshwar.
