Paediatric oncology bone marrow transplant unit inaugurated

Udupi: The dedicated operation theatre and paediatric oncology cone marrow transplant (BMT) unit at the Shirdi Saibaba Cancer Centre of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, was inaugurated on Tuesday.The paediatric oncology BMT unit is equipped with advanced infrastructure, specialised isolation rooms, and infection-control measures designed specifically to meet international standards for bone marrow transplantation. The dedicated oncology operation theatre is tailored to handle complex oncological surgeries with enhanced safety and precision.The state-of-the-art facilities were inaugurated by Dr Anand Venugopal, chief operating officer, MAHE, Manipal, in the presence of Dr Sudhakar Kantipudi, chief operating officer, teaching hospitals, MAHE, Manipal; Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent; Dr Naveena Kumar AN, head, department of surgical oncology; and Dr Vasudeva Bhat K, head, department of paediatric oncology.
