Official held for graft

Mangaluru: An Assistant Engineer in the technical division of the Panchayat Raj Engineering Department (PRED) was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe on Monday. A statement from CA Simon, Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Mangaluru Division, said the accused Roopa demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 to clear the bills of a dormitory hall constructed at SC post matric students’ hostel in Belthangady taluk. She was caught while accepting Rs 8,000 bribe from the complainant. She was arrested and presented before court. tnn
