UDUPI: The second day of the nationwide 48-hour strike evoked poor response in Udupi.
Bus services, both private and KSRTC, resumed on Thursday and it was business as usual at majority of the shops and restaurants in the city. The attendance of employees in banks and other government offices were less. Some of the schools and colleges were opened on Thursday and all single screen movie theatres in city too functioned normally on Thursday.

In the morning, a few supporters of the strike engaged in arguments with bus drivers on highway routes for resuming service. The day went uneventful otherwise.
Strike total in Kundapur
In Kundapur, the joint committee of trade unions took out a protest rally on Thursday. Most of the restaurants and shops downed their shutters. There was no buses and rickshaws plying . Balakrishna Shetty, chief secretary, district committee of CITU in a release stated that stringent agitation will be held in future in case the Union government does not take corrective measures to curb price hike of basic commodities.
