There will be no power supply on June 21 between 9.30am and 5pm in following places: Adi Udupi, Pandubettu, Kalmady, Malpe Pete, Malpe Bunder, Madhwanagar, Kodavooru, Salmara, Kola, Hanuman Nagar, Fish Carrying Yard, Kodankooru, Hanumantanagar, Nittooru, Ambalapady, Kinnimulky, Kannarpady, Naikere, Ajjarkadu, Kadekar, Kidiyooru, Padukere, Bannanje, City Bus Stand, Shiribidu, Brahmagiri, Kadabettu and adjoining places.
Also, there will be no power on same day from 9am to 5pm at Kundapura pete, Japti Water Supply, Kone, Aamparu, Japti, Kalavara, Basooru, Kodi, Ballooru, Anagalli, Gopady, Kumbashi, Tekkatte, Koteshwara, Molahalli, Korgi, Wandse, Gulvadi, Bandya, Gangolli, Shirooru, Uppunda, Kolluru, Karkunje, Kerady, Tallooru, Byndoor, Golihole, Kergal, Trasi, Hemmady, Bellala, Chitooru, Hattiyangadi, Badakere, Aalooru, Harkooru, Haklady, Noojady, Kundabarandady, Senapura, Yalajit, Ganganadu, Nada, Hosadu, Gujjady, Hombady, Mandady, Kota, Padukere, Manooru, Kotatattu, Giliyaru, Bannady and adjoining places.
Book distribution: Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress distributed books and umbrellas to poor schoolchildren under the leadership of Mithun Rai, president of the unit here at Jeppu Mahakalipadpu Government School on June 18. Speaking on the occasion, Mithun said that his party has always supported students who have wished to pursue education. Assam visit: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is on a six-day visit to Assam as part of a parliamentary standing committee on agriculture up to June 24. The committee will visit Guwahati, Barpani and other places in the North-Eastern state and see and discuss about various issues related to agriculture and explore new areas in this sector. Since the MP will not be available for public meeting during this period, people may contact his office for any of their needs in the interim.
Yoga club: On the occasion of the International Yoga Day, Yoga Club was inaugurated at Vikas PU college on June 18. Yoga rathna Gopalakrishna Delmapady inaugurated the club. He enlightened the students about yoga by demonstrating the various asanas and mudras. Krishna J Palemar, chairman of Vikas Education trust said the practice of yoga helps to develop the body and mind, bringing a lot of health benefits.
Sand mining ban: Following deputy commissioner's order to remove boats and other equipment from river banks due to ban on sand extraction during the monsoon, the district administration got more than 700 boats removed till Saturday. Apart from boats, about 150 plus temporary structures erected to facilitate sand extraction have also been got removed. Around 700 labours engaged in sand mining have been sent home.
