NITK gets new director
Mangaluru: The ministry of education has appointed Bhallamudi Ravi as the new director of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal. Ravi took charge of the office in a simple ceremony from Prasad Krishna, director, NIT Calicut, who handled additional charge of director, at NITK Surathkal, on Thursday.Prior to this appointment, Ravi was at IIT Bombay as an institute chair professor of mechanical engineering. He is a distinguished alumni of NIT Rourkela, and completed his masters and PhD at IISc Bangalore. ContributionsHe is well known for his contributions in the fields of metal casting and medical devices, and headed the Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship. Krishna welcomed the new director, Ravi, and said, “NITK is a role model for the entire NIT system, including NIT Calicut. As an alumnus of NITK Surathkal, I am always proud of my alma mater. I am sure that under the able leadership of Ravi, NITK Surathkal will give tough competition to the top IITs in the NIRF India rankings. I am confident that the new director will further improve the institute.”
