Nephew kills man with beer bottle

Mangaluru: A 37-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his nephew after an argument during a function at a house in Bantwal taluk on Sunday night. According to a complaint lodged by Shekhar,43, a resident of Pilathabettu in Bantwal, a religious function was being held at his residence and several family members had gathered.

During the programme, Madhusudan, 37, the complainant’s brother, reportedly questioned Rahul, the son of another brother, Keshava, regarding issues related to his work. Angered by the confrontation, Rahul allegedly left the venue.

After the function concluded, it was found that Rahul allegedly stabbed Madhusudhan in the neck with a broken beer bottle. Madhusudan was shifted to the govt hospital in Bantwal, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Based on the complaint, Punjalkatte police have registered a case under Section 103 of the BNS. Rahul has been taken into custody for questioning, and further investigation is under way.
