MANGALORE: After a gap of six long years, All India Radio (AIR), Mangalore, will host Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan, a Carnatic music concert, at the Town Hall here on Saturday, from 6 pm.
Top A grade artistes will perform at these concerts and the recordings will be broadcast on national hook-up later.
Sharada, programme executive, said Padmavathy Ananthagopalan, sister of the illustrious violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman, will render a veena recital at the concert.

She is the only veena player in the family of violinists. She will be accompanied by Neyveli Narayanan on the mridangam and D S Karthik on the ghatam.
Concepta Fernandes, programme executive, said this will be followed by a Carnatic vocal by Subhashini Parthasarathy. She will be accompanied by R K Sriram Kumar on the violin, K Arunprakash on mridangam and Udupi S Shrikanth on the ganjira.
Sooryakanth Bhat, another programme executive, said AIR Mangalore's ghatam artiste Trichy K R Kumar has been chosen by the director general of AIR in the Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan concert at Calicut.
