Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd

) On Wednesday conducted an onsite mock exercise in the refinery in the presence of
district crisis management group
, including
Narendra Babu, deputy director of factories, directorate of factories, boilers, industrial safety and health. The exercise was carried out in the presence of various dignitaries including district fire officer and industry representatives from the neighbouring industries.
The drill was conducted in
crude distillation unit
(CDU-1) with the scenario being crude column bottom leakage and dire. The drill continued for about 30 minutes during which fire-fighting and cooling operation were carried out and readiness of industry for handling any such emergencies was established. A review meeting was held in the presence of M Vinayakumar, GGM (i/c refinery) to analyse shortcomings and lessons from the mock exercise.
Narendra Babu and Parameshwaram, district fire officer who witnessed the drill, complimented MRPL for fire-fighting and emergency handling abilities showcased during the drill. M Vinayakumar assured the gathering that all positive observations will be deliberated and complied forthwith and thanked the industry representatives for having participated in the exercise. He also complimented all involved with the exercise for their excellent performance.
