MANGALORE: Union minister for oil, petroleum, and natural gas M Veerappa Moily will dedicate berth number 16 at New Mangalore Port at Panambur near here on December 29. This berth has been set up at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore exclusively to handle petroleum oil and lubricant (POL) products. The new berth will have a draft of 14 metres, P Tamilvanan, chairman, NMPT said.
Noting that berth number 16 incidentally is the 16
thoperational berth that New Mangalore Port offers to its users, Tamilvanan told TOI that Moily will also lay the foundation stone for berth number 17. This berth will be for exclusive use to handle container cargo and bulk cargo, Tamilvanan said, adding that even this berth will have a draft of 14 metres and allow bigger ships to dock here.
