Mangaluru: Karkala MLA and former minister V Sunil Kumar's father, MK Vasudev, died after a brief illness at a hospital in Manipal on Thursday. He was 87.

The Udupi district BJP has expressed deep condolences over the demise of Vasudev. "A retired teacher who held various responsibilities in the RSS, known for his simple and exemplary personality. The party prays for the departed soul to attain eternal peace and for God to give strength to his son, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, and his family to bear the loss," said BJP district president Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) pranta sahakaryadarshi Sharan Pumpwell said that Vasudev Master was instrumental in organising hundreds of youths for national and social service. "He is remembered with heartfelt tributes by the VHP. Vasudev Master held significant responsibilities in the RSS. He served as the district coordinator in Chikkamagaluru, nurturing the organisation's activities there and guiding many," expressed Sharan.
