MANGALORE: Karnataka Media Academy Awards were announced on Monday for the year 2008-09. M B Maramkal, special correspondent, The Times of India, Mysore, is among the 26 who have won the awards for their work in the field of journalism so far.
The other awardees are Padmaraja Dandavathi, Jayasri Vijendra, Mruthyunjaya Kapagal, B K Kiranmayi, V Nagaraju, V Hanumantappa, Suresh Topannanavar, Babu Reddy Tunagala, S B Patil, Y N Joshi, Vadiraja Vyasamudra, Narayana Suvarna, B V Seetharam, G Rajendra, To Cha Ananth Subbu Rao, Prasanna Kumar, H K Murugesh, S Naganna, Nirmala Eligar, Venkatesh Prasad, Gopala Vajapeyi, Babu Rao Swamy, H S Sundaresh, D V Rajashekar and A D'Silva.

The special award of 2008 is bagged by K S Shanthakumar, of 2009 by Krishna Prasad. Vishweshwara Bhat has got the Year award for 2008 and Gowri Lankesh for 2009.
K P Ganesh has won the award for the best human interest stories while Suchethana Naik and H T Anil for highlighting social causes.
